Cinematographer Dennis Dalzell dies

Dennis A. Dalzell died July 4 at the Motion Picture Health and Welfare Hospital
in Woodland Hills, Calif., after a long illness. He was 76.
Dalzell
worked on numerous television shows, serving as d.p. on "The Rookies" (46
episodes), "Murder, She Wrote" (34), "Charlie's Angels" (eight), "The New
Adventures of Wonder Woman" and "V" in addition to many feature films, including
"Bustin' Loose" with Richard Pryor, and TV movies.
In 1979, Dalzell
earned an Emmy nomination for NBC telepic "The Winds of Kitty Hawk." It was the
first time that father and son lensers were both nominated in the same year, as
Dalzell's father, Arch R. Dalzell, was nommed for the miniseries "Ike: The War
Years."
In addition to "The Winds of Kitty Hawk," Dennis Dalzell's TV
movie credits included "The Betty Ford Story," with Gena Rowlands, and "Addicted
to His Love."
Born in Los Angeles, Dalzell served in the U.S. Coast Guard
before becoming a camera assistant in the late 1950s. He went on to become a
camera operator, then a cinematographer. He was a member of the American Society
of Cinematographers.
Dalzell is survived by his wife, Camille; daughters
Denise and Erin; and son Rob.
